This interactive and hands-on session explores the impact of language deprivation that some Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) individuals experience by not being provided fully accessible language exposure during language acquisition period, birth to 3 years old.  We will learn what language deprivation looks like in the classroom and how to address it in the learning environment.  Additionally, participants will leave this session with a comprehensive tool in hand, the Deaf/Hard of Hearing/Deaf-Blind Communication Plan, which guides student team discussions focused on the communication access needs of DHH students.  This workshop explores peer-reviewed research that supports the use of this tool.
